Zac Oultram, Design & Estimating Manager at Konect, has signed up to compete in Thundersport GB in 2017. Konect is excited to be sponsoring Zac, who will be competing at many racing events throughout the year. The season started at Brands Hatch on 4 March with Zac taking a win and three second places in the Pre-National 600 series. Zac has also gained sponsorship from Ashley James Shopfitters, Spring Decorating, 6T9 and Owkway Clothing. The next race meeting is to be held at Donnington Park on 25 and 26 March and other dates can be found here. We look forward to providing updates on the results!

Electrical installations underway for Equi-Trek
Konect Electrical has been appointed to undertake electrical installation works at Equi-Trek’s new premises in Sheffield. Works are currently underway and include a new lighting scheme, small power and mains distribution, cable management and fire alarm testing and inspections. Equi-Trek are the largest producer of horseboxes and trailers in the UK.

Konect Electrical has been appointed to install low energy luminaires and power distribution to two units at Roy Hopwood Fasteners in Stockport.  Works are due to commence imminently and the new lighting will reduce running and maintenance costs.  Roy Hopwood has over 30 years experience in the industrial fastener market, as both a stockist and distributor.

Konect Appointed for Electrical Installations at Well Pharmacy
Konect Electrical Services has been awarded an electrical installation project for Well Pharmacy at their 7,500 sq mtr warehouse and distribution centre in Stoke.  Well Pharmacy are the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain and their £16 million distribution service centre in Stoke is the largest of its kind in Europe and has the capacity to handle 420,000 units every day.  The electrical installation works consist of LED lighting to a new mezzanine floor and new office space, securing external lamp posts and installation of LED luminaires, and small power and distribution equipment to feed the power and lighting in all areas.

Ozone Lighting Solutions appointed to install new low energy lighting
Ozone, the specialist lighting division of Konect Electrical, has been appointed by Lodge Tyres to install new low energy luminaires at their depot in Liverpool. The new lighting will improve efficiency and substantially reduce running costs. The Lodge Tyre Company first opened in 1935 and has grown significantly, now handling all major tyre applications and vehicle maintenance work.

Electrical inspection at The Lowry Hotel, Manchester
Konect has undertaken an electrical inspection and fire alarm testing at The Lowry Hotel which sits on the banks of the River Irwell. The Lowry Hotel was the first five star hotel to open in Manchester and offers 165 contemporary and luxurious bedrooms and suites, having undergone a full refurbishment in 2015.

New contract secured – dental practice in Barton Arcade
Konect has been appointed by a private modern dental practice in Barton Arcade, Manchester.  The works consist of new lighting, conduit, consumer unit and trunking.  Barton Arcade is a Grade II listed Victorian shopping arcade consisting of three floors within Manchester City Centre.

Works commence at 17-19 York Place, Leeds
Konect has started electrical refurbishment works at 17-19 York Place in Leeds. The Category A fit out works are being undertaken to three floors of the Grade A office building. The four-storey building, which comprises of three Georgian townhouses, provides 17,590 sq ft of prime office accommodation in the central business district together with 16 parking spaces.

AO.Com agrees 400k sq ft letting
One of Konect’s clients, AO.Com has agreed a letting of almost 400,000 sq ft in Crewe, Cheshire, becoming AO’s logistics base for the UK. A ten year lease has been taken with Prologis on the 386,753 sq ft Crossflow380 distribution warehouse. Crossflow380 provides easy access to the motorway network via Junction 16 of the M6.

Profits up as Missguided eyes overseas push
Missguided, one of Konect’s former clients, has announced that strong sales in both the UK and internationally have helped profits rise five-fold. The Salford Quays-headquartered company, which said that international expansion remains at the forefront of its strategic plans, also revealed that it plans to launch further local language sites in Europe. In its latest set of accounts, Missguided posted pre-tax profits of £4.7m for the year ending 31 March 2015. This represents a rise of 409 per cent on a year earlier. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation increased by 353 per cent to £5.5m over the same period. And the results show that turnover climbed by 70 per cent to £87.2m in 2014/15. The UK contributed £66.2m, while the rest of the European Union provided £9.7m, and the rest of the world added £11.3m.

Annual Charity Challenge
A few members of staff from Konect were pleased to be part of a charity bowling event organised by Brown and Bancroft. Whilst the team had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, they were delighted to support the organisers who have raised around £5,000 so far, which will be split between 2 charities. Alfie & Thomas is a charity which has been set up to raise funds for specialist equipment for twin boys who are suffering from global development delay and cerebral palsy after a premature birth. Child Action Northwest offers a range of services designed to improve the lives of children and young people and end family cycles of deprivation, drug and alcohol abuse, lack of self-esteem, youth crime, teenage pregnancies and broken families.

Team member signs up for the London Marathon
Zac Oultram, Design & Estimating Manager at Konect, has signed up to compete in the London Marathon in 2016. This will be Zac’s second London Marathon, completing his first in an impressive 3 hours 56 minutes in 2015. Zac is hoping to raise over £1,500 for Sense – a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind or have sensory impairments. Chalet Chàtelard, Three Valleys, France
Konect Electrical has commenced phase two of a refurbishment programme at a substantial 5 bedroom chalet in Le Chatelard, France. Works have included a new wiring infrastructure to French standards (à la norme NF C 15-100) which encompass a new intelligent lighting control system, mains and small power distribution and communications and media cabling. Le Chatelard is in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, a peaceful and traditional mountain village in the mighty Three Valleys. The chalet is being transformed into an impressive, bright and spacious dwelling with the added bonus of breathtaking mountain views!

ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Accreditations
Konect Electrical Services are at present working to gain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditations. Konect are working extremely hard to improve working practices, where possible, and ultimately to ensure clients receive the best possible service. Konect had its first audit in September and is due a second stage assessment in October.

Due to Konect’s steady growth over the last few years and the recent improvements in the commercial, hotel & leisure and industrial sectors, Konect has appointed a Marketing Manager to assist with the growth and development of the business. Konect has also appointed additional electricians to manage the current high volume of work.
